Mitch Comardo Bio
Mitch is one of our best Mountain-Bike and Cycloross athletes in the SE family. He started Mountain biking when he was 10 years old and entered the MS150 and completed it on his mountain bike (!) the same year. He competed in a handful of events in the following 2 years, mainly the Huntsville Mountain bike races and Warda. His dad supported him throughout this time and grew his addiction to bike racing.
Mitch started working in a bike shop (Bike Barn) when he turned 16 and came in contact with Will Black, a Texas Bike racing legend. He got Mitch “hooked” on the MTB and set him up with his first XTR race bike and off to the races he went. After racing two Beginner races and winning those, he quickly jumped through the ranks until he entered his first Expert MTB in Spring 2005. That’s the time when he started doing structured training in order to become a better athlete.
In Fall 2006 Mitch decided to attend Midwestern State University, a college known for its solid cycling program. With being in college and a part of a predominately road racing team, he tried his hands on road racing and made more huge steps through categories. In Spring 2007 he managed to make the jump from a Cat. 5 newbie to a solid Cat. 2 in only 3 month of racing. After a long summer of competing in some regional and national level road races he decided that this is not his favorite type of workout and focused back on the mountain biking … his “true love.”
