David-Wenger
Bio
David is an accomplished road and track cyclist with 15 years of racing experience. He has raced with top level amateur teams, US National teams, and three DIII teams from 2000- 2004. His last national medal came in 2002 with a 4th place in the 2002 U23 time trial championships. After college David raced as a professional for two seasons with fond memories then settled in Austin to pursue new opportunities.
Professionally, David drives the Source Endurance bike fitting methodology and runs experiments for the SE research division. With the biomechanical services evolving over time to adapt to best practices, SE has fit several Texas state champions in 2007- 8. David strives for athletes to excel while maintaining a healthy balance between social, family, work, and fitness. His goal is to lead athletes of all levels in the pursuit and achievement of their athletic goals through an interdisciplinary approach. Many of his athletes lead important lives aside from what they do on two wheels, his understanding of what it takes to be successful on and off the bike are significant.
Notable athlete achievements include:
- Erick Benz, 3 state championships in 2008, P-1-2 Texas time trial champion
- John Korioth, 2008 masters road race champion
- Ricky May, 2007 and 2008 Texas masters time trial champion
- Laura Meichan, 2007 Texas criterium champion and TX Cup champion
- Alan Ting, 3 time junior nation champion, 2nd 3k pursuit and 3rd in 1000m TT in 2008
- Andy Weathers, 3rd team sprint 2008 track national championships
In 2009 David will continue racing with the Super Squadra team based in Austin, Texas and will remain focused on regional competition. As a part of the TX Cup winning team, he hopes to mentor highly talented regional riders to the top of the sport. Away from the competition, David enjoys playing the saxophone and patrolling South Austin via cruiser tandem with his wife, Emily, to stay current on the local Austin music scene.
