TMBRA Round 3

Holy smokes, after looking at the news update on all the source athletes that are going real well right now I am pretty happy! Its good to see a lot of people not only enjoying being active but doing it in a ‘fast’ fashion!

Here is my TMBRA round 3 Race report from Waco, TX:

I haven’t raced at Waco in 2 years, but I really enjoyed the course backwards. It’s still definitely a no faking it course. You either were on it yesterday or had a miserable day. I felt pretty good. I tried to keep my tempo a little slower on the first lap and my third lap showed it as I closed up some time on Billy Kurtz at the end. I got to show my Barney self out there yesterday though. With a new MTB fit to mimic my road position since it seems I do all my training on the road bike these days, My handling skills revolted as I proceeded to eat it 3 times. Actually only one time was me over cooking it in a corner. The other two were trees (actually the same tree on lap 1 and 3) jumping out at me. There was one section were two trees were just close enough to snag one side of my handle bars. On the first lap I went down because my Glasses were all fogged up. On the third lap I hit the tree because I was tired I guess. That time I opened up my knee and my elbow… which hurt oh so nice right now. Oh well, felt good and had a respectable race. Enjoyed Waco as always.

Since the majority of my last 2 months have been steady state efforts or something equivalent to that, I found myself just wanted to ride tempo a lot and also wanting to do about 2 more laps! But that works in my favor. These 2 hours MTB races are starting to go by quicker and quicker!
