Yet another learning day
Yesterday was the Tour of New Braunfels road race in San Marcos (yeah, I thought that was weird too). I was in the CAT 5b race that was a 36 mile, 3 loop course. Fellow Source Athletes (and coaches) Derick Williamson and Brandon Marsh took the race by storm leading from start to finish. It was great to be in that group of talent if even for a little while as I was forced to drop out of the race on the final lap due to hydration issues caused by improper racing technique. The lesson to be learned is to always bring extra hydration, just in case, and to beware of how hard you are pushing your body. If there is not enough left to finish the race, then you have just wasted your time and effort.
Congrats to Derick on the winning performance and to Brandon for placing 3rd. They are truly great athletes.
