Test says Great and horrible

Well, it’s as I thought it was. I came in to get tested on the bike at Source and my VO2 max is up there with the some of the best; however, I have the lactic threshold of a “3 week old kitten” (Thanks Derick). Not quite what I wanted to see, but good nonetheless. My training will be greatly improved with these results and now that I have finally been converted to use a heart rate monitor.

The test was extremely hard, and yet, well worth the effort. It is not a long test (mine lasted 12:27) but it gets pretty hard pretty quick. What impressed me the most was the professionalism of those doing my test. Everything was perfectly prepared for me, and all I had to do was ride the bike. The fit was perfect, the room temp was great, there was positive feedback from the Source guys, and even a great playlist of music to keep me pumped up.

Now the work will really start to pay off as we have a basis for all of my cycling training. There is a lot of Lactic Threshold work coming my way, but it will only get me closer to that Olympic dream we are working toward.

I highly recommend getting this done as it will only improve every aspect of your training.

Have a good one,

Yorek
