Dirty Dirty Du

So another weekend out at the old Rocky Hill Ranch. This weekend was the Dirty Du, 5k run, 12mile bike, and 5k run tons of fun. During the week I checked the weather pretty frequently and there was a small chance of rain but I didn't really think that it actually would. Right around 4 pm on Saturday afternoon the rain started to fall, I knew the trail could use a little moisture but not as much as it got. It didn't really occur to me that it rained that much until I pulled into Rocky Hill and started to sink into the pasture in my car. Thats when I was certain that it was going to be a rough day in the mud. The first run was pretty fast and hard running in the mud/clay is not an easy task. As soon as we started running I wanted to be on the bike really bad, but it went alright Tristan Uhl and I came in together 4th and 5th. My transition was terrible I couldn't get my running shoes off so I lost a good chunk of time to my pal Tristan. I ended up getting into second place by the time the bike was over. I was just a minute behind Tristan. I figured to save time I would run in my mountain bike shoes, bad bad choice. I didn't take the stiffness or weight into consideration I was sliding all over the place and could barely lift my legs to run. Long story short Tristan proved to be the Dirtiest and held on for the big W, while I lost 3 positions and ended up 5th. Not to bad, but words of wisdom take the time to change your shoes cause 5k in the mud with the wrong shoes is a very long way.
